Prof. Agustin Zsögön has been awarded a Fellowship from the Programa Bolsas para Pesquisa CAPES/Humboldt, a joint initiative between CAPES and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) of Germany, with the aim of supporting highly qualified researchers currently working in Higher Education institutions of Brazil. The partnership aims at fostering the international projection of Brazilian researchers and to improve cooperation with recognised researchers working in Germany. The result was announced last Thursday (02 July). Prof. Agustin was one of nine selected researchers in the Experienced Researcher tier of the program and will work in the laboratory of Prof Alisdair Fernie, a longtime collaborator of the Plant Physiology Graduate Program at UFV, who leads a research group at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology (MPIMP) in Golm-Potsdam. Prof. Zsögön will develop a project entitled “Genetic, physiological and metabolic aspects of vegetative gigantism in crop domestication”.
The Fellowship will strengthen the scientific collaboration between Brazil and Germany, and in particular between the Plant Physiology Graduate Program and MPIMP, allowing the growth and expansion of the scientific collaboration between both institutions in the study of molecular plant physiology.
